❝AGAIN❞

Since I have nothing better to do, I shall blog about my virgin Vietnam trip with Kobemoo and Blingbling Hoang.

Don't have much pictures to document the whole trip, so I don't actually have the mood to blog. But oh well...some day I'm gonna look back and reminisce. At least I have this post to remind me of these days. Honestly, I had a great time immersing in their lifestyles and cultures.

Departed for Ho Chi Minh city via Tiger Airways. The seats in the plane were awkwardly positioned (so much for the cheaper price). Upon arrival at the Tan Son Nhat international airport, we were greeted by Theresa and her mum. We put up at her place throughout our whole trip.
We kickstarted our trip by heading to the streets, a departmental store(mall), and night market on the first day. Rows and rows of shophouses(?) along every street and every corner. The city was bustling with its people donned in facial masks to prevent inhalation of the exhaust from the engines of the motorbikes. Yeap, motorbikes filled the roads which can be likened to the veins in our bodies. Visited a few stores there and then which sold "branded" clothes that originated from their factories.

Most of the time, our mode of transport was the taxi. The fares were way cheaper than in Singapore, the reason being the currency. Same goes to the prices of most items there.

Next, we went to the departmental store(mall). The visit to the mall was pretty much uncalled for as the prices of the items there was exhorbitant or similar to Singapore. Thereafter, we went to Trung Nyugen Coffee where I had the most delicious tuna salad i ever tasted.

The market had linear arrays of haphazardly erected stalls with a bevy of boisterous people pushing their way around the market. Theresa helped us to bargain as the prices for the items are not fixed. Most of the time, we got what we bargained for, if its reasonable. We indulged in street hawker food most of the time. I have a irrational fear of unhygienic food because i had a serious diarrhoea previously. But i told myself, if i were to miss out all these delicacies, it beats the whole purpose of coming. Plus, all the locals didnt fall ill from consuming them on a daily basis, did they?

Bought this colourful and flavourful rice with coconut.

Retreated for the night at Theresa's place.

P/S: On a sidenote, I remember a few of the more memorable stuff like the buses' honks which can seriously scare the shit out of you. Theresa said the all the buses are prone to accidents and have at least taken lives at least once. The ambulances showing up on the roads on a regular basis and drivers driving on the pavements without legal actions taken very much prove that errant drivers are commonplace.

It is a stark contrast to the mundane Singapore. It is what makes Vietnam stand apart from Singapore and unique. Nevertheless, I like it cos' it's not everyday that we scurry and scream to avoid the busy traffic, especially the buses.
